How to install and use templates
Thank you for the order! This guide explains how to properly install the template purchased from Composer Workflow.
Your Dorico template from Composer Workflow is designed to work either with your existing playback setup or with preconfigured library mappings, depending on the product you purchased.
Follow these steps carefully to ensure correct installation and playback behavior.
installation and setup
Open Dorico.
- Load the provided “.dorico” file included with your purchase.

If the template includes preconfigured libraries (for example Spitfire Symphony Orchestra, Solo Strings and Piano Sonata, Abbey Road One etc), everything will load automatically and you can start writing immediately! (Project doesn’t work properly? Click HERE).
If the template is adaptive and does not include specific playback presets (for example Symphony Orchestra Amateur), it will use Dorico’s default playback template. In this case, you can assign your own preferred playback setup by going to Play > Playback Template > Apply Template, then selecting or creating your preferred library configuration.
Check the instrument routing and expression maps.
Preconfigured templates already contain all routing, expression maps, and articulations setted.
Adaptive templates rely on your own playback settings and expression maps.
Once everything is set up as you prefer, save your version as a reusable template by selecting File > Save as Template.
Common Issue: Dorico Replacing the Audio Setup
If Dorico loads its standard sounds (for example “HSSE+HSO”) instead of the intended library such as “Spitfire Symphony Orchestra in Kontakt,” this happens because the program automatically applies its default playback template, replacing the configuration saved in the file.
Quick solution:
Open any empty project first.
Then open the purchased template.
This simple step prevents Dorico from applying its internal playback model and ensures your template loads with the correct libraries and articulation setup.
At the moment, this is the most reliable method to keep the purchased template’s playback configuration intact.
Your Composer Workflow Cubase template is a complete, ready-to-use project file. It comes preloaded with tracks, routing, instruments, and automation already configured for immediate use — a true plug-and-play setup.
installation and setup
- Open Cubase.
- Load the provided project file (
.cpr) included with your purchase.
If the template includes Expression Maps, they are already loaded and linked to the correct tracks and articulations.
If no Expression Maps are included, you can manually load your preferred ones at any time via the Expression Map Setup window.
- If your template uses Kontakt instruments, it will automatically adapt to your current version of Kontakt installed on your system. No manual reassignment is required.
- To reuse the configuration in future sessions, save it as your own template via File > Save as Template.
Your Composer Workflow MuseScore template is fully self-contained and ready to use immediately. It includes all layout, staff, and notation settings preconfigured, so no additional setup is required.
installation and setup
- Open MuseScore
- Load the provided
.msczfile included with your purchase.
The project will open fully configured with correct instruments, styles, and formatting.
- You can start composing right away—no further configuration or playback setup is necessary.
When you’re satisfied with the setup, save it as your own template by selecting File > Save as Template. This allows you to reuse the configuration for future scores with the same structure and formatting.
